Takashi Murakami is a contemporary artist who, in the history of contemporary art, was the first to create an original character for art. "Flower" has become the most loved and recognized character in the world, both as Murakami's character and as an art character. Murakami holds a Ph.D. in Japanese painting from Tokyo University of the Arts, and like "Setsugetsuka," flowers are a traditional motif in the world of Japanese art. Additionally, the all-over composition incorporates elements of Abstract Expressionism.
