Incorporating Cherry Blossoms motif in Murakami’s works by Takashi Murakami, stands as a symbolic item of the collection, created through advanced techniques and an extraordinary investment of time. The graphic on the back was developed by deconstructing each individual petal and reconstructing it as embroidery data. By layering five to six levels of embroidery, the depth of the cherry blossoms is rendered three-dimensionally. Furthermore, a precisely aligned transfer print is applied over the embroidery to reproduce the artwork’s delicate coloration. The embroidery process alone required more than ten rounds of prototyping beforecompletion. Executed at an exceptionally high density of over 20,000 stitches rare in apparel production this piece is so labor-intensive that only one garment can be completed per day.
